Islamic Asociation of Saskatchewan- Moose Jaw is extremely shocked by the terrorist attack that happened at the Mosque in Christchurch city, New Zealand. The killing happened during Friday Prayer, 49 people lost their lives and several others injured.
IAOS-Moose Jaw’s Imam Faisal and the President strongly condemned the attack. A special prayer called a janaz prayer was held after Jumaah prayer to honour all who lost their lives because of this terror attack.
We thank you all who brought flowers to show their solidarity with Muslims around the world and for all peace-loving people in this world.
I am sickened to hear of the attacks on the mosques in New Zealand. I cannot understand the hatred spreading world wide. I hold a place in my heart for all Muslims. May all be safe and keep strength. I stand with you in your shock and grief. Thank you for receiving this message. (I am not a Muslim.)
Watching the news today, hurt my heart! I felt the necessity to let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We travel this journey of life together but weather the storms and sunny days of life under different umbrellas. We are one people in Canada. Unfortunately we have a few bad apples in the bunch. Please know my family’s sympathy is extended to all of you and your brethren.Read More

Qurbani (udhiya / udhiyah / udhia / qurban) is a sacrifice that is offered at the time of Eid al-Adha to show gratitude towards Allah and to provide for the poor and needy. The Prophet Muhammad was once asked by his Companions: “O Prophet of Allah! What is this qurbani?” He replied, “It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim SWT.” (Hadith – Ibn Majah)
Allah says in the Qur’an: “It is neither their flesh nor their blood that reaches Allah; it is your piety that reaches Him.” (Qur’an 22:37)
Qurbani has been performed from the time of Ibrahim and commemorates also Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, who was replaced by an animal at the time of sacrifice.
